HCAF Members: Test Your Home Health Aides on Communication

As a benefit of membership, HCAF provides agencies with In-Home Aides-Partners in Quality Care, a monthly publication that addresses relevant topics for home health aides. Topics addressed in In-Home Aides-Partners in Quality Care have included stress and burnout, nutrition and food safety, professional boundaries, ulcers and more.

The October 2011 edition addresses communication, about which aides will learn the following:

  • Reasons why effective communication is important
  • Skills needed for effective communication
  • Tips for practicing communication techniques

Each edition of In-Home Aides-Partners in Quality Care is packed with useful information on the month’s topic as well as a post-test (answer key included) for home health aides so they can earn one hour towards the 12 hours-per-year Medicare requirement!
