HCAF Member Appointed to State Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease

HCAF is excited to announce that Ted Wolfendale, the administrator of Dial A Nurse in Naples and president of NEVCO, has been appointed to the Purple Ribbon Task Force as a representative of the Florida home care industry. He was one of six individuals appointed by Senate President Mike Haridopolos, and is one of the 18 Task Force members.

HCAF reported in March that the Florida Legislature created the Purple Ribbon Task Force, which is tasked with developing a comprehensive state plan to address the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. As it relates to home care, the bill requires the task force to assess the availability of home and community based services and respite care for people with Alzheimer’s or a related form of dementia. The Task Force is operated under the Department of Elder Affairs.

Ted expressed interest in serving on the Task Force following the Spring District Meetings, and HCAF worked with leaders in the Florida Legislature to secure his appointment. His appointment is effectively immediately and expires August 1, 2013.

HCAF extends its congratulations to Ted, and encourages members to stay tuned to future updates from the Purple Ribbon Task Force!
