HCAF Unveils Falls Risk Assessment Tool

Since OASIS-C was first put in place, home health providers have grappled with the fall risk assessment requirements and appropriately answering M1910. Providers did not have one tool that had been validated in the community and was multifactorial. In response to this need for a single fall risk assessment tool that met the multifactorial and community validated requirements, the Missouri Alliance for Home Care (MAHC) has developed the MAHC-10.

This single assessment tool has been tested and may now be used by home health providers in order to successfully meet the OASIS requirements. This tool can be used with all patients, including bed-bound patients and those with severe mobility limitations, thereby meeting CMS criteria to mark a “yes” response on M1910.
