The National Association for Home Care & Hospice announced this week some issues related to Comparative Billing Reports (CBS) with the nationwide contractor. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services previously awarded the CBR contract to SafeGuard Services, LLC, which is also the ZPIC auditor for Florida.
A CBR is a documented analysis that shows a provider’s billing patterns. Safeguard Services issued reports to hospice providers in 2012 and the first reports to home health agencies were sent this month. After receiving calls from providers about inaccuracies in their agency’s data, NAHC contacted SafeGuard Services. Their representative contacted NAHC yesterday confirming that they found errors in their data. SafeGuard Services plans to investigate further and follow-up with a conference call later this week as well as a written statement. Stay tuned for additional information once it is received.
