Industry Reps Meet with Key Congressman to Discuss CMS Proposed Rule

July 12, 2013

FL-USCong_Bilirakis-2013-07-12Home care industry representatives today met with U.S. Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-Tarpon Springs), a four-term Tampa Bay area congressman who serves on a key health care committee in Congress.

BAYADA Home Health Care’s Jeanne Barton and Carson Barnes and HCAF’s Kyle Simon met with Rep. Bilirakis to discuss the recent CMS proposed rule, which calls for a 1.5 percent cut Medicare home health reimbursement rates in 2014. The rule also includes a 3.5 percent annual cut over four years to rebase Medicare rates, as required by the Affordable Care Act. The discussion gave industry representatives the opportunity to highlight to Rep. Bilirakis the importance of home health care and the role it plays in offering high quality, cost effective care for more than 300,000 Florida seniors each year.

Thanking Florida’s Congressional Delegation

September 8, 2011

Across Florida last week, many of you saw ads thanking members of Florida’s congressional delegation for ‘Standing Up for Florida’s Seniors’.

The newspaper ads, orchestrated to run while they were at home during their August recess, recognized U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and Representatives Bill Young (R-Indian Shores), Gus Bilirakis (R-Palm Harbor), David Rivera (R-Miami), Dennis Ross (R-Lakeland), Rich Nugent (R-Brooksville), Tom Rooney (R-Stuart) and Sandy Adams (R-Titusville) for their support of millions of seniors who receive skilled care at home.

These elected officials have taken steps to assure that the 90% of seniors who prefer to live independently in their homes will continue have that option. The thank you ads mark the sustained progression of home health’s proactive partnership with Congress to assure quality, innovation, continued cost effectiveness and benefits integrity.

The Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare, which collaborated on these ads with state associations across the nation, was established in 2010 to partner with government to assure access to high quality home health services for all Americans.
